The Racine County Bar Association is a voluntary organization comprised of over 200 attorneys and judges, most living and practicing law in Racine County. These lawyers vary in their areas of practice, ranging from criminal law (both prosecution and defense) to estate planning, from personal injury (both plaintiffs and defendants) to family law, as well as many other areas of practice. Many judges are also members of the Bar Association. This large and diverse group of lawyers is committed to maintaining an excellent level of service, quality, and professionalism in Racine County.
Local lawyers volunteer to serve on non-profit boards, organize fundraiser, give advice and contribute their time to many local non-profit organizations, and provide free legal services to those unable to pay, helping to make Racine a better place to live. History of the RCBA
The Racine County Bar Association (RCBA) dates back to the late 1800s. The Register book still used today for all new members to sign dates back to 1875. The association formalized into a non-profit organization in 1957. The purpose of our organization is stated in our Articles of Incorporation:
- to exert a constructive influence among the legal profession and upon the life of the community
- to promote the necessary revisions in the law
- to facilitate the administration of justice
- to evaluate the standards of the legal profession
- to cultivate a spirit of community among the members.
It is with this purpose in mind that our membership serves Racine and other communities.
